While many of us do have a tendency to be untidy at times, and have cluttered areas around the home, mostly we manage to keep bathrooms relatively neat and tidy. That’s nothing to be proud of. Of course, bathrooms are usually smaller than other rooms with less need for storage space.

Not all bathrooms are tidy, though, and when they become untidy, that is the time to look at bathroom shelving and racks. For most of us, having a bath or shower should be a relaxing time. Not having the soaps, towels, shampoos and so on exactly where you want them can spoil that relaxation.

Sometimes you may be in a rush and you cannot find what you need in the bathroom because it’s disorganized. The tidiniess of the bathroom affects everyone who uses it each day, and if it is messy it can influence the mood you are in. Getting it organized exactly to your liking is a challenge worth tackling.

You need discipline to make the most of restricted space. If you still have clutter, then don’t despair, as there are lots of bathroom shelving solutions to save you from permanent mess.

There might not be as many as you’d like, but there are some lovely looking bathroom cabinets and corner shelving on the market to give you the space you need. There is no requirement for total refitting. Unless your bathroom is in bad shape and needs renovating, then buying a set of racks or shelves will normally be enough.

You can find a wide range of bathroom racks using powder coated metal. An innovative space saving idea is a rack with long legs that staddles the toilet. Now there’s a convenience! It has matching floor standing and wall racks.

If that does not fulfill your needs, then look out for some corner shelves. You’d be surpised how any room can be helped by one, and that includes bathroom and kids’ bedroom. We are very lucky these days, the range of shelves for the home is so wide that we can always find the answer to our needs in any room. That, though, has not necessarily been the case always.

When your bathroom spacesaver is done why not treat yourself to a hot shower.

Sewing Machine Cabinets And Their Uses

Sewing Machine cabinets are what a seamstress uses to store all of her sewing implements. The most common sewing machine cabinets look like desk in a way. They offer maximum storage with the least amount space. Sewing machine cabinets are like most cabinets they can be bought as is or they can be custom built. However, a custom built sewing  machine cabinets will set you back significant amounts money as compared to the buy “as is” model.

Sewing Machine Cabinets, up until recently, were made exclusively out of wood and particle board. Today they can be made from metal, plastic and even pressurized glass. Making them look more modern and less traditional. Sewing machine cabinets if they are extremely elaborate can even act like a self contained unit. They can be all inclusive. These elaborate works have a sitting cabinet and an armoire, were your dresses and trousers can hang.

Along with the enormous size they usually have organizational tools and elaborate designs on the outsides. Purchasing one would be an investment and an heirloom for generations to come. When deciding on which style of sewing machine cabinet to purchase, go for which cabinet will fit your lifestyle and budget.  If sewing is just a hobby and not a lifestyle remember less is always more.

Fitting New Bathroom Faucets

Thursday, June 4th, 2009

Would you like to save money, make your bathroomlook better, and be able to take pride in the fact that you did it yourself?  Decided to start a home improvement project can be a little freighting but with the right tools and information, you will soon be on your way.  You will have the confidence to do it yourself and know that you have done a good job.

The first step to getting started with your new faucet project is getting the information to do the job.  You need to consult the web and/or educational books to make sure that you have all that you need to make this process happen.

Once you have all your information compiled and feel ready to undertake your home improvement project, you need to look at all the different faucet manufacturers for the best quality for the money you are willing to spend.  You will want to purchase a faucet that is durable, as well as, blending well with your existing bathroom accessories.

You now have the perfect faucet purchased.  It is sitting in its box awaiting its new home on your bathroom vanity.  You need to make sure that you have the correct tools available.  This would include:

A basin cock wrench or pipe wrench
Philips-head screwdriver
Flat-head screwdriver
Slip-joint and adjustable pliers
Adjustable wrench
Bathroom caulk and caulk gun (plumber’s putty will also work)
New flexible faucet supply tubes
Thread sealer

Your next step in this process would be to remove the old faucet.  To do this, you will need to shut off your water supply either under the sink or at the main water-supply valve.  The hot and cold water supply tubes will need to be loosened. At the faucet stem, loosen and remove the compression nut with a basin cock wrench or pipe wrench.  To remove the faucet now, all that you need to do is remove the nut holding the faucet to the sink.  The faucet should lift off.

Chrome-plated brass hardware may start to decay after time so you may wish to change that as well.  A bucket should be placed under the drain to contain excess water still in the drain.  A new stopper may come with your new faucet. If this is the case, you might like to change that also.  This will give you a consistent look on your new design.

You will need to wrap your faucet stems with a thread sealer. Before inserting the faucet stems into the correct holes install the rubber gasket to the base of the faucet.  Don’t worry if your faucet did not come with a rubber gasket.  A bead of caulk will do the trick. When you have the faucet in position, you can thread the washer, nut, and mounting nut on to the faucet tailpiece.  Tighten these nuts by hand.

You may now attach your supply tubes to the faucet stems.Make sure that you apply thread sealer to the shut off valve threads.Tighten the coupling nuts to the supply stems.  Be careful not to over-tighten the nuts.  Reconnect the hot and cold water supply stems.

You are now ready to clean the supply tubes to your new faucet.  To do this you need to remove the aerator from the faucet.  Now turn on the water. You will need to check for leaks while the water is running.  If there are none, shut off the water and replace the aerator.

Now sit back and enjoy your new bathroom faucet. You can take pride in the fact that you just installed it yourself.

Media Cabinet Display Entertainment Choice

Saturday, May 23rd, 2009

A beautiful media cabinet can provide a place for all of the video and audio pieces that the family members have collected. One of these collections can be a treasure for the different members of a family.  The media cabinet can hold a favorite movie that people want to view a couple of times a year.  The media cabinet can also hold the favorite audio tapes that can be used for dinner music or to provide the background for a great party.  All of these items look awful if there are scattered throughout a room, but a media cabinet will provide a place to gather these items together and hide them behind a gorgeous exterior.

A media cabinet usually has shelves inside for all the different types of media.  These include bulky video tapes, audio tapes and DVD selections.  The sections are a great help to organize all of the materials so people can easily find exactly what they are looking for when they are ready to relax or entertain friends and family.  The media cabinets are often designed so all of the available selections can be viewed and selected with a simple glance. Most people will be grateful to have all of their entertainment packages pulled together into one space for easy selection.

Media Cabinets Are Great Pieces Of Furniture

Stacks of video tapes under the television set are not a very attractive sight, and a gorgeous cabinet can solve the problem and provide a nice look to a room.  A media cabinet can be found in many different styles that will blend in with a nice décor or even add substantially to a beautiful décor.  These cabinets can be found at many of the stores that sell fine custom made furniture that will match the style of many different rooms.  There are other media cabinets that are more reasonably priced at some of the discount stores.

Those looking for a media cabinet will want to look at some different models so they find the perfect match for their media room.  The media cabinet can be a large piece of furniture or a small compact piece of furniture.Sometimes a media center can include storage space for different types of entertainment and as a stand for a television or stereo system.  Some shoppers may want to build a custom made cabinet that will fit perfectly into their home.  People will usually be very happy with one of these cabinets that really bring many loose ends together.

Styles Of Office Cabinets

Tuesday, May 19th, 2009

Everyone that works inside instead of outside knows something about office cabinets.  There are a lot of companies that make them and almost as many styles to choose from.  For people who work out of a cubicle there are even specific cabinets designed for them.  Most companies don’t want to spend a lot of money on office cabinets except for the boss’s office.  So what usually ends up happening is that the purchasing agent puts out bids from several companies and will pick the low bidder.  This isn’t always the case, but it does happen a lot.  Just because it was the lowest bid doesn’t mean that they won’t look good.

The first office cabinet to look at is the Office Designs Vertical filing cabinet.  It is eighteen inches deep and can hold wide legal size files.  This is a twist on the old style filing cabinet because it also holds a printer.  It can be bought from Staples for around eighty dollars and up.  There are other cabinets that cost more but this is a good basic cabinet for any office cabinets.

Staples, also, makes an all wooden cabinet with four doors. This office cabinet comes in a very stylish cherry wood finish.  It is about fifty inches tall with each drawer holding fifteen inches of filing capacity.  A buyer can expect to very reasonably pay around forty five dollars for this cabinet.

More Office Cabinets

Another custom made cabinet is the Office Depot brand laminated file cabinet.  Prices begin around one hundred dollars and up.This office cabinet will look good at home or in the office.  The standard wood color for the Office Depot brand laminated cabinet is dark oak.It holds two doors and stands about thirty inches high by sixteen inches deep.  A little smaller than other office cabinets, it remains a great deal for the price.

One more office cabinet to compare is the Office Designs vertical cabinet that is different from the other previously mentioned cabinet.  It is made well and will last longer than most employees.  It has two drawers that are twenty two inches tall.  Standing at about twenty seven inches tall it is very convenient.  It also has smooth ball bearings that make opening and closing the drawers exceptionally easy.  It is built out of twenty eight gauge metal that still looks good while taking a lot of abuse. For this office cabinet, a person can expect to pay around seventy dollars.  There are two keys so that the drawers can remain locked when not in use. This will allow a person to keep valuables and confidentiality secure.

Corner Cabinet Remodeling

Tuesday, May 19th, 2009

One of the things to consider when improving your kitchen is how you want to change the cabinetry. Because so much of a kitchen is cabinet space, kitchen renovation is one of the most important things to do when improving your kitchen.

Your home renovation project can range in complexity from painting your existing cabinet fronts to a fully redesigned set of kitchen cabinets. One thing to contend with when remodeling your cabinets is what to do in a kitchen where you have cabinet space underneath the corner of a counter. When improving your kitchen, you may want to decide how to best utilize this space, and there are a few options.

Lazy Susan

One method of remodeling corner cabinets to make use of the space there is to add a lazy Susan, where circular shelves are mounted around an axle, allowing you to turn your corner cabinet’s door.

The benefit to this design is that you can store things far in the back corner of your kitchen cabinets with little loss of extra space. However, due to the design of the lazy Susan, with the main support concentrated in a small area in the center, these are often not ideal for heavy things, so you must be conscious of how much load you’re putting on them.

Also, including one of these in your cabinet renovation project sometimes means making smaller openings for nearby cabinets to ensure you have adequate room for the new mechanism.

New Drawers

One interesting idea for remodeling your corner cabinets is to add drawers that pull straight out from the corner, or at a forty-five degree angle, the way most other drawers would pull out, in order to use the space in the back of the cabinet.

Your storage options are limited only by the width and depth of the drawers you have designed, and it’s a way to use that corner space without much waste.

Just as with the lazy Susan, though, you may decide to alter cabinet space to the right and left of the corner to allow for wider drawers, but to balance this out, if you have another set of drawers in the kitchen, you can replace those with additional cabinet space when remodeling. Such a redistribution of how you use your space can ultimately make storage easier for you.

Do Nothing

Sometimes, the best thing to do with the corners when remodeling your cabinets is to do nothing. Some home remodeling experts will suggest leaving the area under the cabinet counters as dead space.

Finding Television Cabinets

Sunday, May 17th, 2009

There was once a time when the TV was a piece of furniture that set in the living room.  It weighed a lot and the kids had to dust it.  If a person had a TV like this, they were the hottest people on the block.  After that design came the box style TV that people would put on a dresser or something else convenient.  They were much lighter than the old style and they could sit anywhere. Now most people have more than one TV and they can sit in an entertainment center or with plasma TVs they can even be hung on the wall or ceiling.

Television cabinets are now the wave of the future. Some can be quite expensive but there are some that anyone can afford.  One of the television cabinets is the Mission wall mount for flat screen TVs.  It is fifty six inches wide and looks beautiful.  Expect to pay around three hundred dollars for this cabinet, which is a good price for a quality piece of custom made furniture.  It is made with hardwood and will last for years. The color of the cabinets is light oak and the finish is hand sanded and hand stained.

More Television Cabinets

Another nice television cabinet is the Kenton TV cabinet armoire.  This cabinet looks luxurious and goes with many different styles and colors of existing furniture.  This television cabinet sells for around four hundred dollars and will fit up to a twenty seven inch TV.  The finish on this television cabinet comes in either oak or mahogany. It stands seventy five inches tall.  There is also a drawer that slides out with room for a VCR and all of the remotes.  It’s a very useful cabinet and looks excellent in any room.

One more television cabinet to consider is the Studio Tech U22 Ultra Series.  This is a triple wide cabinet that can hold not only the television but all of a person’s entertainment center equipment.  A beautiful piece of furniture that looks good in any space of a home.  The Studio Tech cabinet is pricey but does a lot more than just holding the TV.  The price is around eleven hundred dollars, maybe to much for most people but a beautiful cabinet.

There are an infinite amount of TV cabinets and people can either begin their search from the internet or by shopping around furniture stores.  In order to buy the one that a person wants, it is advisable to first look on the internet and finding a few that are liked and print it out and take it as one goes shopping.
